This project was about playing with negative space. A reaction to the detailed nature of the Colour Riot style paintings, here I sought to flow with purposeful marks deliberately allowing more white space, creating shapes and forms out of what I was not painting. It is about confidence and flow and connected me back to my days of set painting where the painting plays a supporting role of creating the desires atmosphere or look for the action to take place. This got me thinking that perhaps this is a more accurate interpretation of how we use artwork in our lives.
